Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This DOESN’T bear the slightest resemblance to anything in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
I came across the above 'rules' a few weeks back. It was NOT fun for me reading them, at least when I read them for the first time, probably because I had not fully understood (?), or in better words, accepted the first rule of life. Life is not fair. The best thing to do with life is getting used to it. I took a little longer to get used to it. But, better late than never. The sooner you realize this fact, the better.
No one except you yourself care about your self-esteem. It's foolish to wait for appreciation from someone. You've got to believe in yourself. Period.
At the time when I wrote the previous post, I had decided to write a post about my life during last two years. But, I'm not going to write about it, at least not now. I apologize to you all who were waiting for that post.
And as that song says, 'Sometimes you're ahead. Sometimes you're behind. The race is long. And, in the end, it's only with yourself.' There's no point comparing yourself with others, cribbing over the past or worrying about future. Just keep walking.

so very true haresh.....!!! i truly agree.. you gotta be urself n no1 in this world cares yeah.. u gotta b ur best friend and push urself to great heights... cos in the end.. "its just YOU"
Why do you have rule 8 after rule 4?
Ramit, that's because these rules are not my creation. It's copy-paste from a mail I'd received. I found rules 5 to 8 unnecessary. But, at the same time, I didn't want to change the contents of the original mail for it might make it look as if it's my creation.
By the way, why am I not able to see link to your blogger's user profile page? You seem to have kept it hidden.
It's 'rules 5 to 7' and not 'rules 5 to 8' in the last comment of mine. Kindly excuse me for the error.
The rules are so true as our life is true. I m so inspirate with it.
